16 February 2025: Waiting on God

Psalm 27:14
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Waiting is one of the hardest things to do. In a world that thrives on instant gratification, patience feels like a struggle. We pray we seek, and we hope—but when the answer doesn’t come right away, doubt creeps in. Has God forgotten me? Does He hear my prayers?

I once found myself in a long season of waiting. I had prayed fervently for something—a breakthrough I desperately needed. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. I wrestled with frustration. I questioned God’s timing. There were moments I felt abandoned as if my prayers were hitting the ceiling and going unheard.

But God was working in ways I couldn’t see. During that waiting season, He was teaching me to trust Him—not just with my words, but with my whole heart. He was refining me, shaping my character, and preparing me for the blessing ahead. When the answer finally came, it was greater than I had imagined. Looking back, I realise that had I received what I wanted when I first prayed, I wouldn’t have been ready for it.

Waiting is not wasted time. It is in these moments of uncertainty that God strengthens our faith, deepens our dependence on Him, and molds us into who He created us to be. Abraham waited decades for God’s promise to be fulfilled. Joseph endured years of trials before stepping into his destiny. Even Jesus waited until the appointed time to begin His ministry.

If you find yourself in a waiting season today, take heart. God is not ignoring you. He is not withholding His blessings to punish you. He is working behind the scenes, aligning things perfectly for His perfect will. He is preparing something far greater than you could ever imagine.

So instead of asking, "When, Lord?" begin asking, "What are You teaching me in this season?" Because the waiting is not just about the destination—it’s about who we become along the way.

Lord, help me to wait patiently on You. When I grow weary, remind me that Your timing is perfect. Strengthen my heart, deepen my faith, and help me trust that You are always at work, even when I cannot see it. Amen.
