March is here, and that means it's officially Women's History Month — a whole month dedicated to celebrating the power, resilience, and impact of women throughout history. But have you ever stopped and asked yourself... Why March? And what’s the story behind International Women’s Day on March 8th? Let’s spill the tea!
The Cover That Speaks Volumes
Before we dive in, let's talk about the cover — because, yes, every detail matters. It’s an homage to one of my favourite quotes:
"Here's to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them."
It features three different generations of women, reminding us that strength, wisdom, and courage flow through every woman — past, present, and future.
How Did Women's History Month Start?
Believe it or not, Women's History Month started from something much smaller — but powerful (just like us women, right?). It all began as Women's History Week in 1980, thanks to the National Women's History Project. This group of badass women wanted to make sure women's contributions were recognized in schools, workplaces, and society.
But here's the thing — one week? Please. That wasn’t nearly enough to cover all the queens who’ve changed the world. So in 1987, the movement grew into the whole month of March officially being declared Women's History Month in the U.S.
Now, countries around the world have joined the movement, using this month to amplify women's voices, celebrate achievements, and highlight the ongoing fight for gender equality.
Why is International Women's Day on March 8th?
Okay, let's take it back to the early 1900s — a time when women were fed up with being seen and not heard. Women workers in New York City had been organizing protests for better working conditions, equal pay, and voting rights.
Fast forward to 1910, when a powerhouse woman named Clara Zetkin from Germany suggested the idea of an International Women's Day at a women's conference in Copenhagen. The goal? A global day where women could demand equality and celebrate their achievements.
The first International Women’s Day was officially celebrated in 1911, but the date became locked on March 8th after women in Russia held a massive strike for “Bread and Peace” during World War I. Their bold protests triggered a whole revolution — proving that when women come together, we can literally change the world. 💪🔥
Why Does This Matter Today?
You might be thinking, Okay, that’s cool history... but what does this have to do with me today?
It has everything to do with you. Women's History Month isn’t just about looking back — it's about carrying the torch forward. It’s about reminding you that your voice matters, your dreams are valid, and your story is powerful.
Whether you're rebuilding your life, chasing your dreams, or simply trying to figure out your next step — YOU are part of this history in the making. Every time you choose yourself, speak up, or support another woman... you're making waves just like the women who came before us.
How Can You Celebrate Women's History Month?
Support women-owned small businesses

Hype up your fellow queens on social media
Have honest conversations about women's mental health, equal pay, and self-love
Write yourself a love letter (because self-love is revolutionary too!)
Women's History Month is a reminder that women have always been powerful — and now, more than ever, we are blooming again.
So, here's your sign: Keep going. Keep healing. Keep building. Keep breaking those generational curses. The world needs your magic.
Let's make history — not just in March, but every single day.
