Editor's Note:
Emily Mjomba is one of our remarkable DWC 100 Women. After the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Emily stepped forward to carry on his legacy, taking over the leadership of Hopewell High School in Nakuru, Kenya. Her story is one of strength, love, and unwavering commitment to the children who depend on this school for their future. You can read her inspiring journey here.
Today, we share this heartfelt appeal—to help keep the school’s doors open for the many underprivileged students who rely on it for the chance at an education they might otherwise never receive.
We understand that some may have reservations about the school’s location, but the truth is—education is a necessity everywhere, especially in places where opportunities are scarce. For these children, Hopewell High School is not just a school—it is their hope, their safe haven, and their path to a brighter future.
If you would like more information or documentation, please connect directly with Emily through her Facebook page (link below). She will be more than happy to share the school’s story, their challenges, and the incredible impact your support can make.
Together, we can ensure that hope continues to shine for Hopewell.
Emily's appeal:
Warm greetings from Hopewell High School in Nakuru, Kenya.
We are a charitable organisation dedicated to providing affordable and free education to underprivileged and marginalised students—young people who might otherwise be denied the opportunity to attend high school. Since our founding, we have worked tirelessly to create a safe, supportive learning environment where every child has a chance to thrive.
Thanks to the generous support of donors and well-wishers, we have positively impacted the lives of many students. Today, we reach out with a heartfelt appeal—one that continues the vision of our late founder, who dreamed of providing safe, proper accommodation for our boys.

Our Appeal: Help Us Complete the Boys’ Dormitory
In 2021, our founder initiated the construction of a 200-bed boys’ dormitory to house students who lack secure living arrangements. Sadly, he passed away before the project could be completed. We are now committed to carrying forward his legacy, but we cannot do it alone.
Due to limited accommodation, we are forced to turn away many bright, eager students. With your support, we can change this and provide these young men with a safe place to live, learn, and grow.

Our Project Goals:
Complete the construction of the boys’ dormitory
Build essential washroom facilities
Construct a teacher’s residence for supervision and mentorship
Erect a perimeter wall to enhance security

Project Cost:
The total funding required to complete this vital project is Ksh 3,131,365 (approximately USD 24,215).
How You Can Help:
Your support—whether large or small—will directly change the lives of these deserving students, providing them not only with shelter but also with the hope of a brighter future through education.
