Navigating Pregnancy After Loss: My Journey and Tools for Healing

Pregnancy after loss should be one of life’s happiest moments, but it often feels overshadowed by fear and anxiety. The innocence and joy that seemed natural now feel distant, replaced by apprehension over every small details. For those of us who have faced multiple losses, like my own experience with one miscarriage and three ectopic pregnancies, the journey can be an emotional rollercoaster.

Every day feels long, filled with worry and a reluctance to share the news, as if hoping it will somehow protect us from loss. I remember dreading every trip to the bathroom, fearing bad news at every turn.

We often feel torn between honouring the baby we lost and fully embracing the new life we’re carrying.

"Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives."

After years of loss, I realised I needed to heal emotionally and mentally before I could welcome a new life with hope. When I became pregnant with my daughter, I felt calmer and more connected, no longer carrying the same heavy fears.

Here are a few practices that brought me healing and continue to support my clients today:

  1. Daily Gratitude: Listing five things to be grateful for each day can shift your mindset and raise your vibration.
  2. Mindfulness: Practicing meditation, breathing, yoga, or even mindful walks kept me grounded, helping me focus on the present instead of worrying about the future.
  3. Connecting with Your Baby: Through daily visualisation, I created a peaceful space to bond with my baby’s spirit, bringing comfort amid uncertainty.
  4. Emotional Healing: EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Womb Healing & Hypnosis helped me process grief and release emotions from past losses.
  5. Self-Care: Making time for self-nurturing activities reminded me that caring for myself was also caring for my baby.

Above all, I learned to be kind to myself and began to reframe my narrative from “I am broken” to “My body is capable of a healthy pregnancy.”

Make sure you surround yourself with those who understand and find the support you need to navigate this journey.

Your path after loss is unique. Trust that you’re strong enough to hold both the joy and the fear, and embrace the tools that help you heal.
